The Structural Difference

Silk is a Protein: Specifically, it is a natural protein fibre produced by silkworms. It contains 18 essential amino acids and a protein called Sericin, which is remarkably similar to the proteins found in human skin and hair.
Satin is a Weave: "Satin" is not a material; it is a way of weaving threads. Most "Satin" masks found on the high street are made from Polyester a synthetic plastic derived from petroleum.

The Friction Factor: Saving Your Hair

If you wake up with "bedhead" or frizz, your mask strap or pillowcase is likely the culprit.

Synthetic Satin: While it feels "slippery," it creates static electricity. This ruffles the hair cuticle, leading to knots and breakage.
